SEED – The Society to Educate and Empower the Differently Skilled, has embarked on an ambitious journey to establish a school specifically designed for children with special needs. 55 cents of land has been acquired at Malamukal, Trivandrum, where the construction of a state-of-the-art educational facility is currently underway.
The new school will provide an inclusive and supportive learning environment tailored to the unique requirements of differently skilled children. At SEED, we are committed to fostering an environment of growth, empowerment, and excellence, ensuring every child receives the education and support they deserve.
We are excited to announce the commencement of Phase 1 of our project, which is estimated to cost Rs. 50 Lakhs. This ambitious endeavour aims to create a nurturing and empowering environment for the differently skilled individuals in our community. We invite you to contribute to this noble cause. Learn MoreThe site encompasses an area of approximately 55 cents, featuring a difference in level of 9 meters from the approach road to the highest point. The master plan involves terracing the site into three distinct levels:
Lower Level: This level, which has direct access from the approach road, is designated for parking facilities. It will provide ample space for vehicles, ensuring convenient entry and exit for staff, students, and visitors.
The middle terrace will house the administration building. This centrally located structure will be accessible from both the lower and upper levels. The administration building will serve as the heart of the campus, incorporating administrative offices, teaching rooms, a library, and other essential facilities.

“Thankamani teacher” as she is popularly known as, brings 42 years of extensive experience, with 34 of those years dedicated to working in special schools. In 2005, she was honoured with the Best Teacher Award in the state of Kerala. Her contributions extend to the international stage, having been actively involved with both Special Olympics International and the National Special Olympics.
She further enhanced her expertise through a two-week training program at Northampton University, coupled with hands-on experience at Fairfield Special Needs School in Northamptonshire. Her exemplary service and dedication have earned her numerous Achievement Awards in Kerala.
T J Mathew from Kerala and Late Sally Mathew from San Francisco were working in the United States when they met and got married in 1977. After retirement,they chose Kovalam as their home and immersed themselves in local charity initiatives, with a particular focus on education and special education. They have successfully mobilized support from their extended
families to fund a variety of impactful projects, including:

Kun, as she is widely known, has a profound passion for supporting children who require special care. Over the years, she has dedicated countless hours volunteering as a Special Education teacher at Marion Play Home. Her exceptional commitment and tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed; she was honored with the Volunteer of the Year award by the Kerala State Government. Her work has made a lasting impact on the lives of many children, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to making a difference in her community
Connell spent over 39 years at the forefront of the IT industry, holding leadership roles in both India and the United States. From 2003 to 2022, he served as CEO at RM India, the India Delivery Center for UKbased RM Plc., overseeing operations and strategy in Trivandrum, India, where he grew a team of 1100 IT/ITES professionals. Prior to this, he held leadership positions at Titan Industries and Deutsche Software.
He has proven expertise in business and technology strategies, leadership, talent acquisition, project governance, and global business process integration.
Since retiring from RM India, Connell has focused on philanthropic activities, actively engaging with charitable organizations to make a positive impact. He also serves on the boards of several IT companies.
Abhay hails from a distinguished Kottayam family known for its thatchu shastra tradition. He graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from Trivandrum in 1995, securing second rank. After a decade abroad practicing architecture, he returned to Kerala, focusing on interior, industrial, and sustainable residential
projects. Abhay is also a filmmaker, having directed a documentary on Trivandrum and three short films after
studying at Whistling Woods International, Mumbai.
Passionate about running, he founded the Trivandrum Runners Club (TRaCS) and is recognized as one of
India’s few AIMS-accredited International Marathon Route Designers. Abhay’s charitable initiatives include Project Bhoomika, which provided homes to 10 families in Haripad, earning him a national award from HUDCO in 2023/24 for innovative housing solutions.
Advocate Sudha Sudhakaran R has been a dedicated legal practitioner for over 20 years, beginning her career in 2004 at the District Government Pleader’s Office in Thiruvananthapuram. She now heads her own
law firm in Maharani Buildings, Vanchiyoor, and serves as a member and panel lawyer for the Trivandrum District Legal Service Authority.
Sudha has held various key positions, including advocate member in National Lok Adalats and Mega Adalats, where she has successfully settled thousands of cases. She is highly skilled in handling civil and criminal cases across various courts and has provided free legal awareness sessions to prisoners at the Legal Aid Clinic of the District and Central Prison in Poojappura.
Currently, she serves as a legal advisor to several companies, including TKey Education Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a UK-based company in Technopark, TK Resorts
Pvt. Ltd., KBR Pvt. Ltd., and the KEY Core Foundation.
Dr. R. Vishwanathan, a distinguished civil contractor based in Maruthankuzhi, is renowned for his expertise in constructing exceptional residential properties. His
portfolio, however, extends beyond luxury homes to include a variety of significant public structures within the city. Notable among his projects are the Ladies Hostel at the Medical College, the AMA building situated opposite the General Hospital, and the annex to the Public Library. His adeptness in architectural style was recognized with a national Award of Merit for his work on the Public Library annex, which impeccably adhered to the original period design.
In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Vishwanathan is deeply involved in philanthropic activities. He plays a pivotal role in the Venganoor
Panchayath Special School, demonstrating his commitment to community service and support for charitable initiatives.
